Image in Chat windows

Hi. I want to put an image in the right hand side of the chat windows. Apart from individually editing the templates, is there a simpler way? I notice that area is defined as a <div id="avatarwnd"></div> in some of the templates (I'm using Simplicity) so maybe it can be set using CSS or something?
