Online/offline Button nor changing on refresh

Two things I'm having a little trouble with, when the operator goes offline the button immediately switches function but the image doesn't change until the viewer refreshes the page.
Sometimes even when the page is refreshed the online image remains on the screen for a while after the operator has gone offline.
Is there anyway to tweek this
